A big thank you to everyone who joined us to participate in Tex Jernigan's ONE: ACROSS AMERICA.
We've uploaded Friday's pictures and some of Saturday's to flickr, and I plan to upload the rest this weekend. To download a print-ready file, just click "All sizes" above the picture of your choice and download the largest file for printing.
The installation involves the use of hundreds of pipes hammered into the ground, and through a feat of perspective they align to create illusions of grandeur around each person who stands within it. Tex Jernigan will be on site shooting portraits, and the pictures will be available freely online.
ONE is part of a larger tour of the western half of the country which will run from late July through early October, touring from Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas to the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. He will stop through several big cities as well as town and small cities, shooting hundreds of portraits each weekend, and he hopes that by the end of the tour, a collective portrait will emerge.
This installation was the premiere of the piece's new form, a flame or teardrop shape instead of the previous oval. Tex plans to expand it a bit in future installations to better accommodate taller and more people.
